In the past two decades, Nyhan, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry, P.C. has grown from a 9-attorney Illinois Workers' Compensation defense firm to a premier, full service defense firm handling multi-state Civil Litigation and Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance services, in addition to Workers' Compensation defense and Employment. Now boasting more than 40 attorneys, our growth has been fueled by a solid commitment to the honest, aggressive and innovative defense of our clients.

The roots of Nyhan, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry, P.C. go back to the late 1950's when Thomas D. Nyhan joined the Chicago law firm of Pope, Ballard, Shepard & Fowle to assist a veteran attorney in handling workers' compensation claims for General Motors Corporation. Mr. Nyhan's "helping out" turned into a 35 year journey as he became one of the premier workers' compensation attorneys in the state of Illinois, While at Pope, Ballard, Mr. Nyhan was joined by Gerry Bambrick, Hank Kinzie, Ed Pfister and Bill Lowry to create a formidable group of workers' compensation attorneys within that firm.

In January In January 1992, Messrs. Nyhan, Pfister, Bambrick and Kinzie left Pope, Ballard and formed our firm, along with Mr. Lowry and four other attorneys. The current firm officially opened its doors on February 1, 1992. Although Mr. Nyhan retired at the end of 1994, he continued to consult with members of the firm on important issues up until his death in 2014. Mr. Pfister, Mr. Kinzie and Mr. Bambrick have since retired from the firm.

Current shareholder Christopher Gibbons was the first attorney hired out of law school by the firm in August 1992 while shareholders Thomas Mallers, Dan Ugaste, Jim Moran and Bob Harrington began successful careers at other firms before joining us in the 1990's. The shareholder group has more recently been rounded out by Jason Payne, Amy Bilton and Keith Herman.
