Overview


Dana Brisbon (he/him) brings over two decades of experience to Nyhan, where he focuses on workers’ compensation law. He advises clients before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, formulating litigation strategies to determine the employer’s liability, exposure, and possible defenses; reviewing contracts; conducting investigations with medical experts and investigators; and leading hearings in arbitration and before the Circuit Court and Commission. Dana has drafted circuit and appellate court briefs, presented oral arguments, and stays abreast on legal developments in the field to ensure his clients receive top notch representation.

Before joining the firm, Dana served as Deputy General Counsel for the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he advised the clerk’s office on legislative changes, ensured fairness and minimized risks in contracts, represented the office in administrative hearings, and responded to public requests for information and subpoenas. He has also served as an attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he counseled departments during disputes before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, drafted decisions for hearing officers to use in trial, and conducted investigations related to employee activities and medical treatment recommendations. In his own firm, Dana also worked within the family and criminal law fields.

Outside of work, Dana enjoys following and refereeing soccer matches along with his children.
