Who We Are
Nyhan, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry has built its legal practice on tough and aggressive, yet thoughtful, creative and cost-efficient defense of workers' compensation, occupational disease, and employer and civil liability claims.
We represent employers throughout the Midwest, and work extensively for self-insured employers, third-party administrators, and insurance carriers.
We are dedicated to proactive, results-oriented file handling and case management, and superior client service. From developing our strategy to pushing for claim resolution, our goal is to reach favorable results as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Our team of experienced attorneys is prepared to assist our clients in the careful and thorough defense of each case. We challenge the reactive model defense has become, strategically and proactively mitigating to achieve results and file closure for our clients. This requires effective use of the available, evolving tools at our disposal — from Independent Medical Examinations to arbitration. Our experienced, proactive approach produces advantageous resolutions by preventing long, drawn out cases and their associated costs.
Technology plays an important role in handling our case files in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our custom-designed docketing and litigation support software allows us to closely monitor the status of all assigned claims, and we consistently review our document management, docketing, litigation support, electronic file, and electronic communication programs to keep up with the latest advances. This allows us to include things like Surveillance Social Media Search, Secure Video Footage, and more in our investigations.
From the moment a file enters our office, it receives meticulous attention. We provide a thorough written analysis that includes our recommendations for defense. During the pendency of each case, we remain in constant communication with the client and provide assistance at each step in the decision-making process. We welcome questions and make every attempt to honor special requests concerning our case management practices and specific billing requirements.
Our goal is to provide a full range of services to our clients. We are available to answer questions concerning injuries and problems that arise before a claim is filed and to review and make suggestions concerning accident reporting procedures, the investigative process, and claims handling procedures. To this end, we frequently offer seminars for claims management and supervisory personnel.
The roots of Nyhan, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry go back to the late 1950's. During this time, Thomas D. Nyhan joined the Chicago law firm Pope, Ballard, Shepard & Fowle to assist a veteran attorney in handling workers' compensation claims for General Motors Corporation. Nyhan’s "helping out" turned into a 35-year journey as he became one of the premier workers' compensation defense attorneys in the state of Illinois.
In January 1992, Nyhan, along with colleagues Gerry Bambrick, Hank Kinzie, and Ed Pfister, left Pope, Ballard and, along with Bill Lowry and four other attorneys, formed our firm. Although Mr. Nyhan retired at the end of 1994, he continued to consult with members of the firm on important issues up until his death in 2014. Bill Lowry is now the managing shareholder and has been joined by nine attorney/owners who lead our firm.
