Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission Transitions to Electronic Filing System

6.30.2020 Blog

The Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission is transitioning to a fully electronic filing system. The Commission is implementing this new system in phases until parties are able to make all submissions to the Commission electronically. Phase One will consist of electronic settlement contract submission.  The conversion to the electronic system will take place following Commission-facilitated training and a short grace period for the filing parties. The Commission will send out a formal notice of the effective date in the coming weeks.

Once the first phase takes full effect, all parties will be required to electronically submit settlement contracts through the Commission’s online portal for any Application for Adjustment of Claim that has been assigned an IWCC case number. Arbitrators will also approve settlement contracts electronically. Pro Se settlement contracts will continue to be processed via paper submission in the short-term but will transition to the electronic system in the near future.

During this transition, there may be delays in filing and receiving settlement contracts as the Commission implements the new system to improve efficiency and decrease costs for all parties. Please be assured that Nyhan, Bambrick, Kinzie & Lowry is abreast of the process and prepared to take all necessary steps to ensure that we continue to quickly and favorably resolve your cases.

As the Commission disperses new requirements and information, we will keep you informed. If you have any questions, please contact us.
