Nyhan 2025 Summer Interns Embraced Hands-On Learning and Opportunities for Real-World Experience

9.9.2025 Firm News

Nyhan is proud to celebrate the achievements and professional development of our 2025 summer interns.

This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming the following interns to our team:

  • Jayla Bradford – Indiana University Maurer School of Law
  • Matthew Garrison – University of Illinois College of Law
  • Trevor Ivy – Northern Illinois University College of Law
  • Daniel LaTulip – DePaul University College of Law
  • Katelyn McGruder – Loyola University Chicago School of Law
  • Adam Reed – Loyola University Chicago School of Law

The interns were assigned two mentoring attorneys, one associate and one partner, who provided them with insight into the firm’s processes and the resources to succeed through our structured training program, designed to prepare interns for future legal careers. This year the group gained experience by:

  • Completing research assignments
  • Preparing proposed decisions, direct and cross examination questions, and medical chronologies
  • Taking part in Nyhan’s mock trials, pro-se settlement hearings, opening letters, IME background letters, pre-trial conferences, and evidence depositions
  • Attending Cook County Board Meetings, oral arguments, depositions, and pretrial hearings

“We are extremely proud of our summer interns and the growth they experienced this summer,” said Managing Shareholder Robert Harrington Jr. “Our program is built to provide hands-on legal experience and allow interns to meaningfully contribute to our firm. Each intern has taken the opportunity to do so, and we are excited to see them continue to succeed in their legal careers.”

The interns shared:

“It is not often a workplace makes you feel at home and this one definitely did. […] along the way, there were people legitimately guiding me, and I felt like I was actually being prepared to take the job once the program was over, not given a teaser of what the highest points of the job are.”

“I think the handbook we were given was by far the most useful text for any field of law I have ever seen.”

“The training I received was more than sufficient to set me up for success. I consistently sought out additional opportunities to learn and grow, and I was always supported and encouraged whenever I asked for more.”

“I liked what I observed this summer. It’s interesting because every case is different. You get to dig into medical and legal details. Plus, I enjoy how it mixes research and strategy with real-world problem solving. The team at Nyhan made it even better – everyone is sharp but also down to earth.”

Nyhan’s mission is to create an environment that fosters growth and excellence. Our internship program provides individuals with unparalleled opportunities and comprehensive support, ensuring their success aligns with the continued prosperity of our firm.
