Overview
Josh Dela Pena (he/him) focuses his practice in workers’ compensation, utilizing his experience in conducting legal research, assisting in discovery, and drafting motions, pleadings, and court filings to achieve favorable outcomes. Josh’s diverse pool of experiences have equipped him with a strong legal foundation that allows him to represent clients effectively and efficiently.
Prior to his role as an associate, Josh was a law clerk for Nyhan, assisting with research and case preparation while gaining invaluable insights into legal practice by attending pretrial hearings and oral arguments.
Before his role at Nyhan, Josh served as a student attorney for an advanced medical-legal partnership clinic at Illinois Law, where he drafted pretrial materials and represented clients in Social Security, guardianship, and dissolution of marriage cases. Additionally, he practiced as a student intern for the U.S. Department of Labor, drafting complaints and participating in discovery for the Wage and Hour Division and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
He was also a law clerk for the Federal Civil Rights Litigation division of the City of Chicago, where he assisted in issues related to Section 1983. Additionally, Josh gained valuable experience at an employee benefits firm in Chicago, composing mediation statements, briefs, appeals, and rebuttal letters for clients seeking disability benefits under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
In his free time, Josh enjoys thrifting, trying out Chicago’s best restaurants, and growing his vinyl collection.
