Megan Inskeep (she/her) focuses her practice in workers’ compensation, with experience in all aspects of pre-trial preparation, including discovery and depositions, as well as motion practice experience representing hundreds of claims for Cook County. She has practiced in multiple venues including the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission; Will, Kane, Dupage, and Cook County Circuit Courts; 1st District Appellate Court; and Northern District of Illinois Federal Court.

Megan’s focus has always been to zealously represent her client while compassionately approaching the injured party. She is known for developing strong relationships with both clients and opposing counsel and prides herself on her reputation with judges and arbitrators.

Prior to joining the firm, a large portion of Megan’s career was spent as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney Office, first representing doctors and nurses in all aspects of discovery, trial, and settlement in medical malpractice cases. She later shifted her focus to workers’ compensation claims, representing the county’s interests, where she was responsible for settlements, trials, and maintaining excellent client relationships. Megan represented County medical facilities, the Sheriff’s Office, Facilities Management, and Highways and Transportation. Before this role, Megan worked as a private practice associate managing cases related to premise liability, medical and dental malpractice, wrongful death, and personal injury claims and represented hospital systems and corporate clients as well as doctors, nurses, and technicians. She was responsible for multi-million-dollar claims and worked directly with internal hospital counsel and insurance companies both in and out of court.

Outside of work, Megan spends her time with her two young children, refinishing furniture, and actively participating within her church.

Representative Matters

  • Responsible for pre-trial preparation and representing the defense at trial in a case where the petitioner demanded over $90,000 for wage differential due to taking a lesser-paying job voluntarily after all treaters returned the petitioner to full duty in his prior position following two separate work accidents. At trial, Megan presented the defense that no physician ordered a change in jobs. The claim was settled post-trial for $13,000. Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Cook County
  • Obtained a reversal of a large award to the husband of the petitioner for home care of partner, fees, and penalties. Megan, who took over the file post-trial award, argued no compensation for spousal duties, saving $300,000 for the county. Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Cook County
  • Took over file post-trial award which failed to apportion between a person-as-a-whole award for back injury and leg injury. The Commission found the trial arbitrator should have apportioned out the leg injury to provide the defendant with a credit on the leg. Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Cook County
