Anne-Marie Foster Named a Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Leader in Employment and Labor Law

Crain’s Chicago Business has named Anne-Marie Foster a 2023 Notable Leader in Employment and Labor Law. The competitive award celebrates leading Chicago attorneys who have made a measurable impact on labor and employment law practice, promoted inclusivity through mentorship, and taken initiative in civic and professional organizations.

Anne-Marie’s win follows a particularly fruitful year, during which she:

  • Saved a client a six-figure payout before the Illinois Department of Labor, who determined her client was not liable for a payout in a Wage Act case alleging an unpaid bonus, interest and penalties.
  • Helped establish precedent regarding construction site insurance policies before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a client in DuPage County, saving multiple-six figures in damages.

Anne-Marie, who is on Nyhan’s blog committee, is Board Secretary for Kaleidoscope, a nonprofit serving parents and children in the Chicago area facing complex challenges. She has previously provided pro bono assistance to the organization, playing a key role in helping Kaleidoscope adjust to rapid changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. She also sits on the Chicago Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee and the Claims and Litigation Management DEI committee, and gives employment law presentations before the CBA, CLM, and Illinois Self-Insurer’s Association.

Anne-Marie concentrates her practice in civil litigation matters involving personal injury and employment discrimination, advising and defending employers in all aspects of employment law, including employee discipline, workplace investigations, harassment and retaliation, and federal and state employment discrimination matters. She has served as lead counsel in a multitude of complex litigation matters before federal and state courts as well as administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, and Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Additionally, Anne-Marie has a strong background in handling insurance coverage matters, including coverage litigation involving a variety of commercial, business, and professional policies. She commonly gives employment law presentations for organizations such as the CLM, CBA, and Illinois Self-Insurers’ Association.
