11.25.2024 Firm News

Nyhan is pleased to announce that shareholder Jason Payne and partner David Victor have been named as Wisconsin Law Journal’s Leaders in the Law.

The award recognizes attorneys who have excelled in their practice, demonstrating outstanding performance in leadership, mentorship, community service, and other areas.

The two were honored at the Wisconsin Law Journal Legal All-Star awards ceremony and luncheon on Thursday, November 21.

Jason has over 29 years of experience working with employers in both Wisconsin and Illinois to manage, control, and reduce their risk and exposure in workers’ compensation and employee workers’ compensation fraud matters. He operates across all levels of insurance, embracing the complexity of the cases he works while pursuing excellence and developing meaningful relationships with his fellow attorneys on the case. Jason believes that the practice of law should be an environment of positive energy to benefit both sides of the matter, and he brings this belief to all aspects of his work for transportation and warehousing, manufacturing, healthcare, municipalities, and school district clients.

At Nyhan, Jason is the leader of the firm’s billing school, where he creates a one-on-one space to provide guidance to those that have recently joined the firm on how to properly track their time and bill accordingly. He is also a member of the Workers’ Compensation Association and the Wisconsin Association of Workers’ Compensation Defense.

David focuses his practice in workers’ compensation and civil litigation, and over his more than three decade career, has gained deep trial and appellate experience in both Illinois and Wisconsin. He represents clients from small business to large insurance companies and welcomes the challenge of working in multiple jurisdictions to bring diverse perspectives to all his cases.

Outside of the office, David is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, the National Organization of Subrogation Professionals, the Wisconsin State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association of which he is on the Workers’ Compensation Committee and is a past chair. He takes pride in participating in charity fundraisers in his community, such as the Kids’ Chance of Illinois Chicagoland Gold Fundraiser and the Charity Walk Fundraiser for the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

Congratulations to both attorneys on this accomplishment!
